I don't have a blog yet, but I talk a lot and the items in the menu at the left prove it. Below is where you'll find the most recent news. If you have questions or comments, please e-mail me.
Marshall's Gnomon DVD I finished my Gnomon DVD on Animal Anatomy. I spent six months filling it with material and there is not a wasted minute. Also, it's in high resolution (1024x768).
I think you'll like it. Here's the link.
ImagineFX Animal Anatomy SeriesI've written and illustrated a series of articles for ImagineFX Magazine, beginning with Issue 45 (July 2009) and ending with issue 50 (December 2009). It's a series of lessons on animal anatomy for artists. I've hit the high points of what I teach in my seminars (reduced by 1/100th), and used my own illustrations to make the points. I was busy drawing again!
September 17 – October 15, 2009
I took part in a group exhibit at Mt. SAC with 12 current and former students including Kevin Llewellyn, Dok Whitson, Vance Kovacs, John Dickenson, and Justin Sweet. The focus of the exhibit was sketchbook art and I gave an opening presentation on September 17 to a group of over 200 students.
In 2008, Autodesk, the maker of Maya, 3ds Max, and a host of other visual design software, hired me to write curriculum on storytelling, human anatomy, and animal anatomy for their high school tutorials. It kept me busy half-way through 2009, reminding me that writing is at the core of what I have to offer, and that I love doing it. Especially for high-schoolers. It feels so subversive.
