Anatomy classes naturally focus on the nude figure, but I found that when I was finally able to draw a human body from my imagination (that is with no reference) I had no idea how to invent clothing I had to set up models and copy the folds! Mastery in drawing clothed figures is a natural next-step for figure drawing students. This class is the most packed-with-instruction course on how to draw clothing that I know it distills a four-night course into a four-hour session. I will help you understand all you need to know about how to draw clothed figures. This course meets for one 4-hour session:
This class presumes that you have a working knowledge of how to draw the human body, but even if you don't, it is a crash-course that will help develop your drawing skills. It satisfies professionals but I recommend it even to beginners and the faint of heart. I will explain, gently and in order, the anatomy of drapery folds as they apply to the figure, and how to define their form "in space," then give you time to "take notes" by drawing from examples on slides. This will be as concentrated as any of my anatomy class sessions so come prepared to learn! Bring a sketchpad and a mechanical pencil or pen or some other non-messy point media. No charcoal or dusty media or anything that leaves shavings. This is not a university curriculum course and you will not receive college credit for it. Some classes sell out. To reserve a seat, you must pay in advance. See the Schedule page for more information including dates and locations. For any other questions, please click here to contact me. |
